Mood Boards – Why They’re The Tool for Wedding Planning.

The Secret to Easier Wedding Planning

You’ve heard it before – a picture is worth a thousand words. And when you have several photos together they can tell a story. They transcend you to another place and time.

Want to make planning easier? Of course you do .. and more fun too!

Create a wedding visual, inspiration collage – a *mood board and a *design palette. These aren’t just any boards …these will give you a complete picture, allowing you to see your wedding day.

What Makes Them So Great

When done well, this collection of images will tell your wedding story – it will be the first time you can see what your day will look and feel like.  Looking at your boards .. was it the gorgeous photos you were drawn to or does it actually resonate?  Curate your mood boards first so the planning that follows mirrors your vision and you’re not left feeling like your wedding wasn’t quite you when it’s over.

These boards become part of your planning foundation, showing you all the pieces you need to bring your vision to life. Make it easier to say yes and no when deciding what to include. They act as a sounding board when well-intended advice starts to cloud your vision; you have a resource keeping your vision clear.  Mood boards give you confident direction to find the details that match and the people that align with your vision.

Use your design palette to share your style & vision with your wedding team. The main elements – images, colors, textures – work together to create a cohesive aesthetic that communicates your vision to everyone involved. Be it your designer, wedding planner, florist, photographer/videographer, your mom/dad, sister/brother (whoever you choose to be a part of your wedding team).  Sharing a visual representation of your wedding vision allows less room for interpretation and miscommunication.

When specific things are out of season, hard to find or not in your budget, easily swap things in and out of your design palette. Find something similar, then put the new image in. Look at the board as a whole to see if it still feels cohesive, emoting the same vibe.  Mood boards make it easier to stay in your budget without compromising on your dreams.
